In a report on the 'green economy', the European Environment Agency (EEA) argues that recycling has many benefits, both environmental and economic, and therefore must be one of the pillars on which to relaunch the European policy . Beyond noting that, environmentally, the diversion of waste from landfill avoiding the emission of gaseous pollutants, the report showed that a weighted recycling system efficiently, as a returning promoted through the return of packaging system, helps materials to meet the demands of economic production, in addition to providing the environmental impacts associated with the extraction and refining of virgin materials. Economically, the report emphasizes that product revenue grew provinentes recycling and growing significantly. From 2004 to 2008 the turnover of the seven main categories of recyclable products nearly doubled to more than 60 billion euros in the EU.
